Trying to draw a line between your business career and your personal life may not always work. The way you do anything in life, from picking up groceries to raising your children, is the way you do everything in life – including running a company.

Whenever I was working on the busiest and largest cruise ships, I was serving thousands of guests daily and managing multinational teams. I found myself in a position that made me so uncomfortable, I had some big choices to make. I could continue the unhealthy lifestyle choices, or I could slow down --- doing more with less.

In favor of more balance, I chose the latter to achieve the seemingly impossible work-life balance.

Life is one big bundle of perception, projection, and unconscious mind metaphor. Your business and profession are no exception.

This might be a scary thought for those pursuing some “work life balance” but fear not, your life and business being the same is good news.

Note that someone’s best individual work-life balance will vary over time.

Prioritize

As someone who lives where she works, it is quite easy to blur priorities. The first step I got past this was to edit myself personally and professionally.

Be intentional on scheduling. Do you have meetings for a full day? Schedule a 2 to 3 hour block at a time, at least 2 to 3 times each week.

Learn to say no, too. Fight the guilt whenever you feel like being a #superhero but find it challenging to devote 100% to what you do.

USE TECHNOLOGY TO YOUR ADVANTAGE

#Technology makes life easy. Set a schedule to use and block it. This way, you get to focus on friends and family time.

IMMERSE IN PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT

According to Maslow’s hierarchy of needs, self-actualization is at the highest level. This refers to the realization of a person's potential, self-fulfillment, seeking #personalgrowth and peak experiences.

Expand your intelligence laterally.

PRACTICE SELF-LOVE

Enjoy things in life by allowing yourself to daydream in the car or appreciate good weather on your walks anywhere.

Create pockets of personal time to fully appreciate any part of your life.
